Need help ASAP with legality of website scrs?

I need to collect data from a website which lists the contact information of thousands of educational institutions and am wondering if anyone can tell me if this is legal. The information is open to the public and may be searched without a membership or login/pword. It is also available if you wanted to contact each institution so it's not like I'm copying some authors private works. I am building a database with these data so I want to make sure it's legal. Any help offered would be an enormous help. Thanks!
