What happens to people who are listed as suspects?

My friend Jasmines parents listed me and my friend Trish as suspects for someone taking some of her moms jewelry I know that the cops came and put fingerprint powder on everything. What gets me mad is that were not the only two people who have been over her house theres been multiple people and i havent been over in 3 months so i dont understand why i would be a suspect. I just want to know whats going to happen when my mom takes me to the "police" tommorrow ...kuz she sounds veryyyyyyy pissed and never wants me to speak to my friend again. Help pleasee!!
