I think my dog has Peripheral Vestibular Disease triggered by an ear infection... help, please!!!?
We adopted our elderly dog from a good agency. 1/2 year after we got her, she had very strange episode which was diagnosed as stroke. I felt uncomfortable w/ diagnosis becuase some symptoms went unexplained. 4 example, Leah's eyes would flick as though she was watching a very fast tennis game. She staggered around like she was drunk. I think she has peripheral vestibular disease. So. We knew when we got her that she would have a medley of little problems. We love her very much & want her to be comfortable and happy. She had a minor "episode" last week, triggered by ear infection. now, she has really awful balance & some loss of control in her back legs. We have gotten some meds for her ears & are cleaning them nightly. However, she is older and having a *lot* of trouble getting down & up the three stairs that lead up to our door. She falls so often bcuz she won't move slowly, and it breaks my heart to watch. Keeping in mind that she's older, what can we do to help her regain balance?
